After packing everything and a little breakfast (sandwich with cheese and tomato) we started cycling late – at 9 o´clock. The sun was already hot, but the road was easy to go. Almost no traffic.

In the morning we finished packing our luggage and after the last good-byes to the family we headed for the port of Buenos Aires, riding through its urban jungle streets already full of the city´s usual daily chaos.

Here we go again-like every year escaping the dark and cold winter in Germany.
This time we do a combination of a family reunion (my youngest brother marries his lady in Buenos Aires) and our passion: touring on two wheels.
First we thought of continuing our trip on the „Ruta 40“ leading from the very north to the very south of Argentina, but as the last missing stretch would be the one starting from Patagonia down to Ushuaia – which means cold weather – we decided to change the plan and explore a little bit of Uruguay. It should be easy to cycle, and as the last year we were very busy, we preferred an easy trip with nice weather.
To be riding in Mexico for the second time was a different experience as I had decided not to choose the typical tourist destinations for my route.

The night was short. I couldn´t fall asleep until 11pm. Thoughts about how it would be to cycle into Mexico City kept me awake I think . So I got up early. At 5:45am I was already leaving Puebla.

I am already used to get up early. There´s nothing I can do about it. At 8:30am I was awake.
I forgot to turn off my alarm, so it rang at 5 o´clock like yesterday. Shit happens! Thanks god I could fall asleep again and I finally woke up at 11 o´clock. I had missed the breakfast in the hostel, but really -I didn´t care. It was already 1pm when I went downstairs and so I had a breakfast/lunch today. Chicken with mole.

At 5 o´clock my alarm rang like usual – I was awake 100% immediately and I jumped out of bed. Very fast I got dressed because the temperature in the room was beyond all bearing! Soooo cold! I packed everything, took all my panniers downstairs and loaded the bike in record time to be quickly on the road again.
Business as usual: at 6am I was pedaling. After 100m the road started to climb already although I only was searching for the right street to take. It took me like 50min to find it, and at that time I was already sweating like crazy – and the temperature was only 9C°!!
