Sunday 13, January 2019 135 km – Total so far: 1123,5 km

I woke up at 6:45 and at 7:30 I was back on the road again. The morning was cloudy and it was raining a little bit but not too much. The road was not really busy but like always it was going up and down.

Temperature was about 22°C this morning and I enjoyed riding and watching the landscape. I was going really fast and I soon I arrived in the village Nuang Pouy. My plan was to stay here when I was thinking about where to continue today, but it was only 11:30am when I arrived there. So I decided to cycle on….. The climbs got intense and in the end of the day I did 1200 altitude meters.

There was only one small stretch today, maybe about 10kms that was flat. Amazing, I didn’t expect that, really.
While I did a break I suddenly thought of copying that trick, all the truck drivers use here to avoid that vehicles pass them by too close. So I put some tree branches on the road and everyone passing me needed to keep the distance, haha.

At noon temperature rose up to 32°C and I really loved it!!! I had some Red Bull breaks and ate some cookies. Reasonable food was not available. Finally I stopped at a guesthouse but the owner, a lady, wanted a lot of money for a room in an hour hotel – by the way a really dirty hole.

I kept on searching for a place to stay and after 2 km I found another room, type of a hole but at least (and not unimportant) with a restaurant and karaoke singing. Very nice.
I wanted to take a shower but as it was not working I cleaned myself the laotian way taking water from a huge bucket.

I went to eat and in the restaurant there were only 2 tables. Everybody seemed to be drunk and they were singing like howling dogs…. My food was surprisingly and  thanks to God ok.
At 8:00pm already I went to sleep. I was so tired.

I changed my plans and decided to go to Vientiane. As I pedaled a lot of times much more kms than I originally thought I would, I still got plenty of time before returning to Thailand. I don t know when I exactly will cross the border and in case they give you only a 15 days visa instead of a 30 days valid one I don’t want to take the risk and stay too long in Thailand before I fly back.
