Today we are leaving the german winter season for the summer temperatures of Sri Lanka. Our two bike fridays are folded and packed into suitcases and ready to go on tour.
The flight is going at 14.20 with Sri Lanka airlines. As you can´t take a bicycle as extra baggage the weight of our bike fridays is included in the 30kg of allowed baggage weight per person. As a result you can´t take much other stuff with you, as the bikes with the suitcase and some stuff in it already weigh about 25kg.
Although minimizing personal belongings, in the end with everything we had about 10kg overweight. We already imagined any price they would charge us (it was not possible to get reliable information how much would be the price for one kg overweight) but in the end they didn´t charge us anything. Lucky start!
There were some bad reviews about the airline so we expected anything, but the flight turned out to have a standard quality, nothing extremely god but also nothing bad, just average.
