At 4.40 in the morning we land at Colombo airport. Everything as planned-no chaos at the airport. As soon as we got our luggage and went out to the exterior area, I bought a sri lankan sim card. Absolutely no problem at all.
We were surprised how easy everything seemed to be here, same as organizing a taxi. The driver didn´t know our place “The Villa Shade” but assured he would find it. He had to drive around a bit, asking people and there were quite a lot turn arounds. While searching for the way he never lost his good mood, always friendly and trying his best english ever.
I wondered if he would try to charge us more in the end, but no, when we arrived, he even helped us with the suitcases and was quite proud that he´d found the place as he had promised to us. (I am used to have big discussions about the final price in such situations – how nice if everything is relaxed and you just have to pay the arranged amount.)
As everything seemed to be quiet we rang the bell of the guesthouse and soon our host was opening. He just got out of bed, and I think he didn´t expect us to arrive so early.
We got a warm and friendly welcome although and he showed us around patiently. Our little bungalow in the middle of a beautiful garden was built brandnew and clean.
Especially the bathroom was beautiful. A lot of plants and a roof that gave open air view to the sky. The tab was a stone-just awesome everything.
We unpacked our things, took a nap and reassambeled the bikes. In the evening we took a tuk-tuk to a nice restaurant the guesthouse-owner had recommended to us. So this was the start of the „curry and rice“ season!!! (It tasted wonderful-think we will love the food here!)
