Durazno-Florida: Headwind the whole day!!!

102 km (63 miles) – Total so far: 489 km (304 miles)

As soon as we started in the morning we rode with strong wind ahead. There was no secondary street we could take, so we had to cycle the national road that leads also to the capital of Montevideo in the south. Therefore traffic was more than usual.

Trinidad-Durazno: Easy ride and camping for free

45 km (28 miles) – Total so far: 387 km (240 miles)

We didn´t start too early today as we knew it would be a short stretch only. Durazno, which means „Peach“ is only about 50kms away.

Mercedes-Trinidad: Sandy road,heat and headwind!!!

The long and sandy road

140 km (87 miles) – Total so far: 342 km (213 miles)

Today we did a long stretch of 140kms. We started very early in the morning at 6 o´clock with a pleasant temperature and cool, fresh air. Like always very little traffic, easy cycling.

Carmelo-Mercedes: Rain and heat

We started in the morning with rain and low temperature. Soon we found a nice secondary road, unpaved and leading right through the fields.

Rest day in Carmelo: Enjoying the relaxed life in this small town

Breakfast time ended at 10 o´clock in the morning and we arrived just in time….Here they serve the typical breakfast of Argentina: small croissants, the so called „Media Lunas“ which means „Half moon“ with coffee-mostly black. It´s not really exciting.

Colonia-Carmelo: Easy ride over a lot of humps

After packing everything and a little breakfast (sandwich with cheese and tomato) we started cycling late – at 9 o´clock. The sun was already hot, but the road was easy to go. Almost no traffic.

Good bye Argentina: Crossing the Rio de la Plata for Uruguay

Hasta la vista Buenos Aires

18 km (11 miles) – Total so far: 18 km (11 miles)
In the morning we finished packing our luggage and after the last good-byes to the family we headed for the port of Buenos Aires, riding through its urban jungle streets already full of the city´s usual daily chaos.
