Wednesday 23, January 2019 95 km – Total so far 1784km
At 6:15 I woke up. Today I really wished I could sleep some more time – I was so tired. I went to meet Hernan. He put his tent only about 2km away.
The morning was a little be chilly 19°C maybe and for the first time since I left the laotic mountains I had to put on a light jacket. The ride was similar to the one yesterday, surrounded by a lot of sugar cane fields and we saw a lot of trucks carrying the harvest.
At a small shop we stopped for a coffee. There was a young girl inside, very shy. I asked her for food because I was hungry. She told me that they didn’t sell food in there shop. “But you yourself had something for breakfast today, or didn’t you?“ I asked her. She said „yes, eggs with rice“ and so I told her that I would like to have the same, too.
She was so nice. „I have to ask my mother if she can do it for you“ and voila! After 5min we were having breakfast there. Eggs with rice and the most amazing thing was, that she didn’t want to take any money for it. Of course we paid the common price but again I was impressed and very moved by the kindness of the people here.
We cycled on. First we rode on a busy road but after with the help of „Maps Me“ we changed to a secondary road that was really nice to cycle. We saw two dead pythons today, really big. Such beautiful snakes. Very sad.
Later we cycled between fields with flower plantations on both sides of the road. They looked like arnica.
What is really good about cycling in Thailand is the fact, that we don’t have to carry many things to eat and drink on the way.
There are lots of possibilities to buy something. Compared to Laos you feel like you entered into the first world.
We arrived in the city of Chaiyaphum at 3:30pm and we checked in in a hotel called “The Wonders”. I decided to stay here one more day to recover, do some laundry and so on. This time my friend Hernan will stay, too, to plan his
route. After showering I did all my laundry and Hernan and me went to look for a place to eat. We sat down in bar owned by a foreigner and I had some curry with rice. The food was ok but nothing special.
So we decided to check the night market and there I ate some really local food. I swear, it tasted heavenly, much much better than in the bar.
On our way back we got our selfs some beer and I did some blog work. At 10:30pm I was really so tired – end of the day now for me!
Cómo molan tus fotos, cheeeee!! Veo que estás bien y pasando calorcito…. disfruta lo que puedas y carga bien las pilas (por acá hace un frío más bien „inhumano“). Un abrazo, aji tov.
