Huaco to Jachal: Easy going

Tuesday January 8, 2013, 62 km (39 miles) – Total so far: 310 km (193 miles)

Today´s stretch is going to be relatively short, so we started relaxed at 11am after having breakfast in our nice hostel. The road was simular to yesterday and also was the temperature. But today only up til 48°C, so this thing is getting better….

Also like yesterday an awesome landscape and also hilly like yesterday. 10km before reaching „Jachal“ we had a cold Coke-break in a small gas station and the owner recommended to us before heading for „Jachal“ where -due to the siesta- everthing was closed anyway, to cycle on to a nearby camping site called „Aqua negra“.

He described it as very natural (oh, we already had „the very natural-experience“!) with a fresh, clean river coming right down from the mountains and all camping facilities. What convinced us most was the fact, that they provided a good restaurant at a good value. So we decided to spend the afternoon there until in „Jachal“ siesta time would be over. A good decision! The place was awesome and we rode relaxed and refreshed on to „Jachal“.

This tiny little Town has a charming and welcoming atmosphere, a nice plaza and good places to eat. The hostel „La Casona“ where we stayed was also good value with spacious rooms, kitchen and very helpful staff.
We decided to stay one day to enjoy and relax.
