We woke up at 6 to leave early – at 6:45 we were already pedaling. Leaving the city was easy. The first 16kms we were riding on highway number 2 until we could get out to a secondary road on the way to the Red Lotus lake.
We wanted to do a short stop there with maybe a small boat tour on the lake.
At 9:30 we got there and we hired a small boat for one hour. It was very beautiful to see a huge lake full of all those lotus flowers. Amazing! Everything pink! Such a contrast to the deep blue water. This really is a must see. We were so excited and enjoyed very much.
When we continued pedaling we really didn’t know where to go at first. We just cycled on on a secondary road. When we realized we were getting back to the highway we had lunch in a small stall before. We took our most beloved standard meal: yes, fried rice with chicken.
Back on highway Nr 2 we continued riding in this crazy traffic. Really not nice to pedal. In between I needed to help Hernan to get internet on his mobile. It just didn’t wanna work. After we tried for more than 30 minutes we stopped at a gas station and finally we could make it work.
About 5pm we separated. I went to look for a place to sleep in the small village we were and Hernan went to look for a place to camp. Tomorrow morning at 7 we will meet and cycle on together. I found a sleazy hotel. Very very basic.
After showering I went to look for a place to eat. I found a bar with some foreigners. Most of them were old man with young Thai girls. To me it seems to be very cheep and very disgusting.
After doing the blog I went to bed at 8:30 pm. I got to get up early to meet with Hernan.
