Panama city: Sightseeing: Panama Viejo,Parque Metropolitano

Saturday January 28, 2012

We got up earlier this morning for we wanted to find a bike shop to maybe get a new tube for my wife`s bike and just see what`s about bikes in Panama….In our hotel they can`t help you with nothing, I don`t know from which planet they are, but surely they don`t know anything about Panama City.

Well we asked a taxi driver and he took us, although he also had to search for a while. In Panama City they are building the new subway at the moment (shell be ready 2015) and so there are lots of closed roads and deviations. At last we found the shop, but their interest for us as clients was little and they didn`t have a big range of goods, so we left very quickly for and went to Panama viejo, the ruins of the original Panama City, that was destroyed by the Pirate Henry Morgan.

The ruins are o.k., but not spectacular. Afterwards we went to the green lung of the City A big park „Parque Metropolitano“. Jungle and huge trees are a good contrast to the city life. At the highest peak in the park (150m) you`ve got some really amazing views of whole Panama City.
