I went to have breakfast at about 10:30am just down here at the zocalo. Today I really wanted to look for some cycling shirts or something warm I could put on when I would continue towards Mexico City. I had met this japanese guy yesterday, and he had told me that in the mountains that I had to pass it can get really cold. So I told myself: „No way“! I need warm clothes.
Not far away from where I had breakfast I found a sports shop and I could get a shirt and some windstopper jacket „made in Mexico“, so we will test the mexican quality…
Later on I was just walking around, exploring the city a little bit and I went to the malecon. They have some sculptures of an artist Javier Marin (anybody know him?). Also here in the malecon there were some children making their business by asking people to throw away some coins into the water so they could jump after them into the water to get the coins out again.
Of course they came out with the coin (but surely not with the one you had thrown in before) but it was quite entertaining to watch them.
Like always I needed to find the market. Here it was about 10 blocks from the zocalo. I could get my bananas for tomorrow and I asked at the tourist information which was the better option for me to cycle to the city of Puebla.
Either over Xalapa or over Cordoba. The japanese guy yesterday recommended to take the route over Xalapa, and in the tourist information, they also told me the same now. So I will cycle over Xalapa then. I think the distance is about 110km and tomorrow will start the big challenge – the climbs…
In the evening I just had a small dinner and then packed my stuff for tomorrow.
