Pasikuda – Sigiriya: My last day cycling on this tour

Thursday 15,February 2018 130 km – Total so far: 1314 km

I didn’t sleep well fighting with the a/c during the night…. I couldn’t decide myself if I preferred on or off, incredible.

Well, at 5 o’clock I was awake definitely with no chance to fall asleep again.
I started cycling at 6 o’clock and I felt full of motivation as this would be the last day cycling on this tour.

There was no other option as to take the main road A11. Like almost all main roads it was full of traffic, loud and not especially nice to cycle on. Besides, there were no shoulders until I passed Polonaruwa, where cycling got more relaxed because there were some.
Although the road went up and down constantly, I was going very fast.

I crossed the Flood Plains National Park, but I didn’t see any elephant, same in the Minneriya area. There were peacocks and monkeys and many snakes crossing the street.
At 9:30 I had a breakfast break with papaya juice and some rotted. I really love it.The landscape all around me was typical for Sri Lanka. Green rice fields and in the Park areas dense bushland, but altogether nothing special.

I turned on to the B294, the road to Sigiriya. Now the scenery changed, and I enjoyed to cycle this narrow road surrounded by lots of bushes.
Once a guy in a big van stopped to warn me that there was a big elephant, but I didn’t see even a small one….  maybe he was just joking.

At 3p.m. I arrived at Milton’s place, the Paradise Inn. I really felt happy to see them again!
Until I fly home at 19th of February I will stay with them to relax, hang out and enjoy these days
