66 km (41 miles) – Total so far: 679 km (422 miles)
Today we had breakfast in our hostel before leaving, which is pretty unusual for us, because we aren´t really enthusiastic about the typical uruguayan breakfast….It turned out to be a good idea for the stretch to San Carlos leads right through the uruguayan mountains.
As soon as we had left Minas the road was climbing through fields and trees up and up. Cycling can really be a pleasure when you can ride in such a panoramic scenery. The landscape was just beautiful and we enjoyed the ride very much.
Some kms before we arrived in San Carlos we met another cyclist on the road, the first one since we´ve been cycling here in Uruguay. His name was Mike from London, and he will be touring through South America with his girlfriend.
In San Carlos there are only to hospedajes, where one can sleep.
We stopped in the „Hospedaje Gardel“, a small but clean room with friendly and helpful staff.
The town of San Carlos itself is nothing special. We went to the supermarket, bought some things for dinner and relaxed.
