I decided I to take it easy today but I woke up at 6 o´clock and at 7am I was back on the road. There were no shoulders this time and as soon as I left the village it started to climb. It went up slowly, slowly, but not like a serpentine so it became hard from time to time.
The highest point was about 600m high, but before reaching it I had to go constantly up and down. The weather was chilli, about 18C° but the wind was really cold. I had to change clothes because I was sweating a lot and with this cold wind I started freezing. But finally it was not a big gain, because after a while I was wet again of course. I really did miss the sun !!!
The landscape was sometimes farmland and sometimes turned into a wild virgen nature. Very nice.
Before the descend to Catemaco started I had a beautiful view of the lake – awesome. I went down very fast and passed Catemaco. It is a small town on the lakeside. I could also have stayed here, but the weather is not nice so I couldn´t enjoy the lake. I decided to continue to San Andres Tuxla another 9km from here. When I got to the city there were also some really tough climbs to take until I reached my Posada „San Martin“.
The Posada is a very nice colonial building, really beautiful. I first ordered some tacos and a coffe and after took a wonderful hot shower.
I washed all my stinky clothes and relaxed a little bit. In the evening I went to eat, and near the zocalo at the „Hotel Parque“ they hat a menu with soup, some tortillas with chicken in mole and a dessert. As a drink I wanted to have some red wine but those philistines had put it all in the freezer together with the white one. Not one bottle of red wine with a normal temperature, all f….cold! So in the end I drank a beer and for dessert I took a Tequila Herradura 1810. Wonderful.
