126 km (78 miles) – Total so far: 417 km (259 miles)
At 5 o´clock I already woke up. Well, my morning „business as usual“ followed, and at 6 o´clock I was already pedaling. Strange weather: until 8 o´clock it was very foggy and very wet.
The road kept on like yesterday direction „Merida“ .After a while I found a nice, secondary road (I think it was Calle 30-but I´m not sure, as there are no signs at all). Very rural scenery and so quiet. Wonderful – just a couple.of cars. But every rose has its thorn, and that means that this nice, small road was going up and down all of the f…..time, and that can really wear you down man.
Temperature got up to 37 C° – the hottest day so far. A fox crossed the road and after a skunk . Nice ride. I passed some indian villages. Very, very poor.
There was no possibility to buy something on the way and thanks god I was carrying a lot of water and food. I got to Peto and asked for posadas. Proudly they sent me to the best one in town – but no more rooms there. Just today there was a big fiesta in town, bad luck. But I tried the next one I could find (maybe the second best??) and I was lucky then.
They had a room for me. The only rub in it was, that it was upstairs and I had to carry all of my stuff plus the bike up the stairs. But it was only one floor up in the end- could have been worse.
When later on I went to look for a restaurant I found that everything was closed because of the fiesta in town. So I went to the supermarket and I bought 2 cans of tuna, tomatos, some chips and 2 croissants. Healthy nutrition today!
