85 km (53 miles) – Total so far: 434 km (270 miles)
The day started on a nice road that led us away from Dzilam de Bravo through beautiful water landscapes with any kind of birds. The air was still fresh and the sun was shining – perfect weather for cycling. The bikes rolled like automatically.
We saw flamingos, pelicans, cormorants, herons and like always some vultures in the air waiting for the other animals to leave some food after having satisfied their hunger. It was awesome.
The road went through small villages and after some 30 kms we did a nice cold coconut break. Very relaxed ride today.

Later on when we were approaching Progreso idyllic scenes changed. No more small villages but only big houses like country residences from foreigners. Here comes the money and with the money more and more dirt and rubish beside the road. Close to progreso it was a real desaster. Rubbish all along the road with it´s nice aroma.
Progreso itself is the biggest Port in Yucatan and is not really attractive. It has a long, long pier which looks actually very nice and the boardwalk is full of restaurants, small beach shops and party people with loud music blaring out of loudspeaker boxes.
We reached our B&B „Abrazarse Life“ and were happy to find an absolutely nice room with fridge, couch, table and super bed. Just perfect. The owner, an canadian lady, prepared an indian lovely dinner for us and was super helpful. If someone should ever go to Progreso – stay there!
