Anuradaphura – Sigiriya: Easy ride on well known roads

Thursday 01, February 2018 73 km – Total so far: 746,5 km

We started early although today it wouldn´t be many kms to cycle. The first stretch was leading through the outskirts of Anuradhapura and for about 50kms you have to cycle on the main road, the A9, which leads to Kandy.

It´s not too bad cycling here because the road has comfortable shoulders but it´s very loud and quite a lot of traffic. After 50kms then secondary roads. Quiet and peaceful along some creeks we pedaled on.

We arrived at Sigiriya around 2p.m. and got a wonderful pineapplejuice as a welcome drink. It´s crazy somehow, but it felt a little bit like coming home again.

I will stay two weeks more here in Sri Lanka and I guess I will ride to the mountains one more time. We´ll see. First we will relax two days at Sigiriya.
