Friday 25, January 2019 152 km – Total so far 1936km
Like always at 6 o’clock I woke up. I packed everything and me and Hernan started pedaling about 7am.
We were riding together in the beginning for about 5km. I knew that we had different directions to go so I wondered why Hernan still was with me and I asked „Hernan, do you want to come with me now?“ We checked with „Maps me“ and in the end it was me who was going the wrong direction…….So this was the moment we had to say good bye. Unexpectedly, but I was happy that I only did 5kms wrong.
I took the highway but I kept looking for small roads because there was a lot of traffic. So noisy, and not nice at all. Soon I found a rural road. It was so nice to cycle here. No traffic at all and I passed very beautiful temples that can probably not be found in any travel guide.
I did a short stop to have some coke and I asked the owner of the small shop if he didn’t have some bananas. He went to look and came back with a bunch of bananas he gave to me for free. He didn’t want to take any money for it. Amazingly nice people here.
At about 4pm I started to look for a place to sleep. I got back onto the main road and then unfortunately I took a wrong turn. I went 25km in the wrong direction! I can’t explain to myself how this could happen.
Looks like I was in trance – just pedaling and thinking of nothing. Well, I had to go back and finally I stayed in Dan Khun Thot. At least I could find a nice place to sleep. I took a shower, went to eat, came back and at 8pm I was already sleeping.
