I don’t know why but I didn’t sleep very good. Before before the alarm sound I already was awake. I finished packing, closed the panniers and at 6:30 I was pedaling.
Today would be an easy ride. The road was flat and nothing special. It was sealed and very monotone to ride. Most of the way it led along the Mekong.
In less then 3 hours I arrived in Vientiane and I started to check out some guesthouses.
There are so many. It’s amazing how the city has grown in the last 8 years since I’ve been here. In the end I just walked inside one that looked ok for me and asked. I checked in in Phonepaseuth Guesthouse. The room is ok – clean and quiet. I took a shower and did a wonderful power nap. Feels so good!
I went to eat and I found a real Italian restaurant. The food was very tasty and I was happy to have something different to eat.
Afterwards I went to bike shop to check the spokes on my rear wheel. They trundle a little bit. Probably this happen while hitting one of those countless potholes.
Later I met with my friend Hernan and we rode around town, doing some sightseeing. There are a lot of sights like the „That Luang“, the Great Stupa or the Patuxai Victory Monument. We went to see the beautiful sunset at the Mekong River and of course enjoyed some „Beerlao“.
In the evening we decided to eat at an Indian restaurant. It was an easy, relaxed day – like holiday 😉
