Monday 12,February 2018 114 km – Total so far: 1184 km
I started pedaling very early, at 6:10 in the morning. After 8,5km on the main road I took a turn to the left and I cycled on a small secondary road with less traffic and much nicer for cycling.
I passed a lot of rural areas and really poor regions.
At 9 o’clock I was ready to have breakfast. Some crackers and some cheese from yesterday with two nescafes – all my food for today’s ride…
For 35km I cycled on like this, then I reached again the main road. All the signs told me „hey, this is elephant area“, but I was lucky enough not to meet one.
All in all I was cycling fast, and at 3p.m. I already arrived in Kalmunai.
I had planned to find the guesthouse I checked before in the internet, but I couldn’t find it. None of the people around I was asking could help me.
At last I found myself in another guesthouse“Sea Breeze Hotel & Restaurant“ with a terrible room. Dirty and full of lizards‘ shit. The TV also couldn’t comfort me, as all the channels were Arab or Islamic teaching.
Mohammed, the gofer here, is a friendly guy. He went to get me a beer (of course I told him to get one for himself, too), and when he came back he brought a beer mixed with apple juice and 8,8% alcohol.
Then he offered me some ganga, extasies and what ever. When I refused he asked me if I at least could hide his beer, so that his boss wouldn’t know……
What a city. So ugly and dirty. The whole beach is covered with garbage and plastic stuff. Disgusting. Poor planet.
I showered and finished my beer then I ate here in the restaurant the food was good at least something. I’m happy to leave this place tomorrow!
