San Felipe – Dzilam de Bravo: Small route and 100km head wind

115 km (71 miles) – Total so far: 349 km (217 miles)

At 7am we sat on our bikes heading for Dzilam. We supposed it would be a long but relaxed cycling. About ten kms out of San Felipe occurred some head wind.

First modest but getting stronger with every meter of cycling. „Hope this doesn´t last for the rest of day“ I thought, but it should be like this. In the beginning you can take it quite calmly but when it lasts for hours it is really getting on your nerves. You get on so slowly and it´s like constantly pedaling up a mountain.
Besides that, it was a nice little narrow road with very few traffic. We could see some dead animals on the road from time to time who had the great misfortune to be overrun by a car while crossing the road. It´s like winning the jackpot on this quiet road……
Anyway we arrived at Dzilam de Bravo just in time before it was getting dark what especially made my wife very happy because she already feared we would have to cycle in the dark what made her quiet nervous. It wasn´t easy to find a place to sleep. There are only two possibilities: One posada on the main street which was closed and some cabanias right on the shoreline but a little out of town.

They also seemed to be closed. But after shouting and knocking a little bit somebody was opening and we could rent a cabania which was very nice.
We had a shower and again had to cycle back to the village (about 1km) to get something to eat. But this time we just bought some stuff in the supermarket. At our cabania we ate, relaxed and enjoyed the fact that tomorrow we would chill.
