The sky was already cloudy as we left in Oxkutzcab at 7.30am. There must have been some rain at night because the ground was still wet.
Just in case we took out the rain jackets…… Turned out to be a good idea, because after some ten or fifteen km there was short but strong rain. Only for some five minutes but without rain jackets we would have been totally wet. The weather stayed like this the whole day.
There were several short rain showers that alternated with sunshine, cloudy skies and strong wind.We enjoyed riding on this nice well paved road with mostly wide shoulders to cycle on and almost no traffic. At one o´clock we already arrived in Peto. We stayed in the center at the hotel Rodi & Eve. An old building with space rooms and high ceilings.
Old but clean and nice. Of course the first thing after a shower was to find a place to eat. We sat down in a local Loncheria and had some wonderful „Fajitas de pollo“. After we took some photos in the town center but as it started to rain again we returned to the hostel .
There we found the lovely Cholina who was in charge now and who taught us a lot about Maya traditions. She really impressed us. A tiny person with a huge energy and a great sense of humor. You should have heard her laughter! An awesome afternoon.
