Jaffna – Mannar: Long ride on empty roads with back wind

Tuesday 30, January 2018 125 km – Total so far: 562,5 km

A heavenly morning. No sun out yet, so it´s cool and fresh and almost no traffic. When we got closer to the sea we suddenly could feel the friendly wind from the back. Cycling is really fun with such terms !!!

We quickly passed through small villages, construction works and forgotten buildings, like e.g. Churches in the middle of nowhere.
This time the street that devides the sea from the lagoon was awesome to cycle as there were still backwinds. We really enjoyed pedaling along.

We had planned to look for accommodation before entering the city of Mannar because we didn´t want to cycle back some kms to reach the street leading to Anuradhapura the next morning. But as there isn´t any to find we finally had to cycle right into town.
Mannar isn´t worth a touristic visit. It is a place where you stop over night. The guesthouse we checked in though was the second one, as the first one was surprisingly booked. The qualitiy of the room was rather poor and there was no attached bathroom, but for one night it is o.k.

The owners like always superfriendly and helpful, just their english is so little that conversation is practically not possible.
We just went out to find a place to eat which was easy (indian food!) and went back to the guesthouse, where we joined the owners watching a bollywood series for a while. Somehow nice.
